David Gray

If you do not know this already---- I'm a huge huge fan of David Gray ...

The beginning of his songs always start off with this amazing upsurge cadence that puts you in the required mood… hard to describe… the feeling is a perfect mixture of solace and bliss… with a hint of melancholy… the combination is absolutely incredible ..

Cafe Bolero

Chi... my brother... who perhaps is the best "go to" person for amazing hot spots in Chicago suggested Cafe Bolero on Western and Lyndale.... the best "KILLER MARGARITAS" on earth... all you need is 'one' he says...

For Colored Girls

Happy Happy Thanksgiving Everyone... i'm planning on gaining five pounds today ..yea i know.. impossible.. but enjoy your loved ones and always thank God for your many blessings...

On a very different note:

I finally went to watch For Colored Girls yesterday with the bestie... and it was definitely worth the wait... Amazing... definitely emotionally charged, real ..very real and trans-formative movie... every single colored woman will be able to relate to a storyline or a character in the movie.. there are soo many aspects that i want to touch on.. but i won't ruin it for those of you who haven't seen it yet..

But this movie will definitely make you angry... you will definitely cry.. (i cried a whole lot lol)... and it will definitely touch a part of your heart that would make you want to reunite with every single colored women in the world... and in turn hate every man on this earth(this feeling won't last for long...) e.g.,... after the movie.. a couple of men approached Brittany and I ... and our reaction was priceless... i was like.. "don't dudes.. don't even try.. do you know the movie we just watched... yeah... stay away.." lol.. the effect of the movie dies down after a couple of hours. The poetic side of the movie was a bit much.. i personally write and love poetry ... but it could have been toned down a bit.. Overall.. the movie was fantastic... round of applause Tyler Perry for showing the world a part of our world... our trials... and our very painful struggles...

L'America- Mono

So i was listening to Pandora and this song called L'America by Mono...a Tokoyo based group... came on... instantly fell in love.. although my friend Yems says it sounds like a 'fucktrack'... lol.. i think they are absolutely amazing.. the song is instrumentally unique, crescendo is on point... and it makes me "modern dance" every single time i hear it... :)

Shake Hands with the Devil

"Is there anyone alive out there... where is the world... are you all sleeping..."

The words of a "UN soldier in Rwanda during the Rwanda 1994 Genocide"... one of the very few UN troops that stayed in Rwanda after the UN and Belgium withdraw their troops in the midst of a brewing albeit happening civil war that culminated into one of the world's greatest atrocities...

A few hours ago, I watched the documentary-----> "Shake Hands with Devil" ... the journey of Romeo Dallaire of the Canadian forces and the failure of humanity in Rwanda. I can't really describe to you the gnawing feeling of disappointment i felt after watching this documentary... We all know about the Rwanda Genocide... and yes, everyone knows how egregious it was... But how aware are we about the ineffectualness of the UN... about the fact that this genocide could have been curtailed before it became a genocide ... and that every single country in the world including the UN (as usual) ..sat back with their hands crossed and did absolutely nothing while the Rwandans brutally butchered each other?

Anyway.. the documentary was great... great in an unbiased informative way.. i recommend you all watch it...

The World

It seems that the more places i see & experience, the bigger i realize the world to be. The more i become aware of, the more i realize how relatively little i know of it, how many places i still have to go to, how much more there is to learn. maybe that’s enlightenment enough - to know that there is no final resting place of the mind, no moment of smug clarity. perhaps wisdom, at least for me, means realizing how small i am, & unwise, and how far i have yet to go.
