Cowards

There is this "thing" that dangles beneath the surface of wariness
They are called Cowards depending on the wrath of fallen hearts
They continuously collect Countless demonstrations of leveled thoughts
Collectively binding them to levy you into that world of depression
Scrunched in between opposing dichotomies
Wrinkled beneath fine features
They thrust the very notions of your insecurities
Simultaneously pushing them forward to become your deepest desires
Yet they are seldom followed
Last to realize the power of time
They somehow forget the vigor of the mind :)

One of the reasons I started this blog.... AMAZING MUSIC

When I heard this song. "Where You Are" by my favorite artist Gavin DeGraw from his new album Sweeter,.... my heart was literally touched... an indescribable feeling.. In short.... It took my breath away:) The simplicity and elegance of the lyrics...the candid manner in how he conveyed his emotions and the depth ... .. sigh.. nothing short of brilliant. Hope you all enjoy it:)

Quoting my Ace Boo John... "this is one of those 'good melt your heart songs....'"....Here is the link to the song on his album..its the second to last song...

Soliloquy

TORRID LOVE
Torrid love

Blinded by the lasting darkness
Surrounded by the dual nature of emotions
While chained to the fortress of lies
Gently pushing through the never ending storm
Yet limited in perspective…
The sordid thoughts of a new beginning
Flooded with images of your burned past
Failing presence
Heart wrenching silence
The lost souls of torrid love

THEMES OF LIFE
For the time being your life is centered on this theme

Counterproductive … no counterintuitive…
Fabricated … ultimately turned into self
Classily reclined
Finely finished
Tragedies that behooved you
For the time being your life is centered on this theme
Lost in those experiences
Blinded by those flashing lights
Transient movements
A permanent stay
Glasses broken…
Shattered to reflect parts of the hidden theme
For the time being your life is centered on this them
Confusion amassed with peace
Slightly falling
The inability to expect
Broken promises
Fleeted dreams
For the time being our lives are centered on this theme

Why You're Not Married

I haven't blogged in quite awhile...due to major major transitions in my life.. but that would be another story/blog for another day lol... This article was sent to me by my partner and CEO of "Men of Distinction" our multicultural matchmaking business... (once again another story for a different blog) .. The article is a definite must read.. I can relate to many of the theories proposed in this article of why moi and many other women are not married... I do disagree with some of the writer's points... but for the most part.. she speaks Truth...And of course, If you are one of those women who know or have decided that you never ever want to get married.. then.. I guess this article doesn't apply to you.. however..read it anyway.. you might be enlightened...:)

ENJOY and lemme know what you think...

Thoughts.....

Some people do not understand the concept of just living..the inanity of not being bound by someone else's concept of life.... BUT as a friend once told me… my words… movements…. thoughts… this very sentence I write are inherently norms… rules.. unconscious restrictions… and well… whether I like it or not.. I AM bound by someone else's concept of life… society has annexed MY “supposed free will… my free flowing ideas and made it a norm… or classified it as unusual absurdity…*shrug* whatever the category… my thoughts are not really my own… and I’m a product of this world..or society.. as everyone else is.... SHIT to that… I’ll keep trying to come up with MY concept/way OF LIVING… my “self utopia” … what's the harm in trying:)

Anywho...I have to share this amazing music…Animal by Mikke Snow... kinda goes with my random thoughts lol… the intro is phenomenal

Here are my top Flavour songs that are currently on 'constant replay' on my ipod... netbook... phone..lol... disregard the words to the songs... you probably won't understand it.. just listen to how he sings in the Igbo language...

Flavour- Orobo (listen to the igbo when it gets to 2:17 of the song... amazingness..)

Flavour- Adamma

Flavour- Ashawo (this song is particularly degrading.. but erm again..the way he sings it in Igbo .. sigh)

If you are depressed you are living in
the past.
If you are anxious you are living in
the future.
If you are at peace you are living in
the present.

MISTAKE (had to repost this:)

What a day today was as she grappled with the feelings that tied knots in the pit of her stomach
Wondering whether it was possible to surpass this present feeling of despair…
So damned she felt… soo frail and open to the wrath of the world
She focused calmly on how it happened.. and how it all began..
Puzzled as to why she ever decided to dance with control and sleep with freedom
She sighed at her lapse in judgment
The longing she felt within that made her leave behind any sense of reason and embrace naivety
Perhaps it was the slight nudge towards a fastidious result that unconsciously took over her awareness
Or maybe the ingenious idioms of her opponent as he made the solution to her problems look like fried plantain served with omelet…
Whatever the case…she was reeled in without fences….drawn in without barriers
And eventually … she was spat out with such venom that she contemplated biting back the snake that had just bitten her! Lol

READ "LITTLE BEE"

There is a shocking blindness about the treacherous reality of our world until it is unveiled through the stories of victims dealt a harsher hand than we could ever possibly imagine… their stories inform you of every aspect of our world… and shows you how partial and very limited your world really is…. It tells you how entrenched and self absorbed we are in our lives that we forget about the lives of the less fortunate… their world… and their painful experience…  sooo to bring a sense of their reality… their experiences into your world READ… “Little Bee” by Chris Cleave... your world will never be the same... trust me!

As This is Your Life......

"You don’t need knowledge or great philosophical concepts. You don’t need the acceptance of others. You express your own divinity by being alive and by loving yourself and others."Don Miguel Ruiz

"The most important aspect of love is not in giving or the receiving: it’s in the being. When I need love from others, or need to give love to others, I’m caught in an unstable situation. Being in love, rather than giving or taking love, is the only thing that provides stability. Being in love means seeing the Beloved all around me."Ram Dass

"Millions of people never analyze themselves. Mentally they are mechanical products of the factory of their environment, preoccupied with breakfast, lunch, and dinner, working and sleeping, and going here and there to be entertained. They don’t know what or why they are seeking, nor why they never realize complete happiness and lasting satisfaction. By evading self-analysis, people go on being robots, conditioned by their environment. True self-analysis is the greatest art of progress." Paramahansa Yogananda

"Take no offense because that which offends you only weakens you. Being offended creates the same destructive energy that offended you in the first place. So, transcend your ego and stay in peace." Wayne Dyer

My favorite lines in this story...
"bombing for peace... is like fucking for virginity"
"language cannot be understood in its abstraction....it can only be understood in the context of a story.."
"the cause of all our trouble is the belief in an essential pure identity...."

Your Utopia

"Your Work is to Discover Your World and then With All Your Heart Give Yourself to It...."

-Buddha

... this is a beautiful and an absolutist quote- there IS a sense of peace that settles within you when you stop living by the rules of society… and you discover a world that best fits your being… and in essence creates your happiness… it is definitely worth searching for…

TAKEN

I truly believe in being “taken” by something..someone.. anything… that  out of this world feeling of senseless bewilderment .. grasping for control but consciously free falling to that desired feeling of utter bliss... maybe awareness..… there is the sought that happens between two strangers… maybe at first sight.. or through incessant involvement…. whatever the case… they are feverishly taken by each other… and there is splendor in it all… the unusualness… the uniqueness of that feeling… I may be crazy.. but being “taken” by something..... someone...absolutely takes my breath away:)

Skyline of Nairobi, Kenya

There is something uniquely beautiful about seeing a country's skyline in AFRICA lighted up in this form... and the light stretches throughout the whole city... meaning its availability isn't isolated to a section of the country...

ILLINOIS REPEALS THE DEATH PENALTY

I started interning with Amnesty International USA on Monday, January 10, 2011… and they put me right to work… I wouldn’t call it work though since every single assignment or task that needs to be done is like a erm..hmm.. what's the word.. ah yea.. a "hobby…" You get..lol…

One of my first assignments was to call people and ask them to call their Senators to tell them to vote yes on SB 3539 to end the death penalty…

I’m excited to say that the Bill was passed today, the Illinois House of Representatives and the Senate voted to end the death penalty!!! Woohooo.. and I contributed in helping pass the bill.. I feel amazingssss:)

The Fluidity of Love...

When you love someone, you do not love them all the time, in exactly the same way, from moment to moment. it is an impossibility. it is even a lie to pretend to and yet this is exactly what most of us demand. we have so little faith in the ebb and flow of life, of love, of relationships. we leap at the flow of the tide and resist in terror its ebb. we are afraid it will never return. we insist on permanency, on duration, on continuity; when the only continuity possible, in life as in love, is in growth, in fluidity – in freedom…
excerpt from “the gift from the sea” by Anne Morrow Lindbergh
